What is the format of the Day?
Bike & Hike 2026 is on Saturday the 16th of May
Departing from: Derby Arena & Velodrome- Pride Park, Derby
Ride Finishing at: DCHC 1 Scarbrough Avenue, Skegness, PE25 2SZ
Hike Finishing at: Ashbourne Marketplace, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 1HQ
Time: We aim to get the first walkers & riders on their way away from 06:30 with everyone away no later than 07:30. Therefore please arrive in plenty of time to make the start
We’re hoping to have over 200 fundraisers of all abilities from the seasoned weekend warriors through to people who haven't seen their bike or walking boots in years. Don’t worry there is still time to get in shape.
Remember this is not a race; the real measure of success is getting everyone to the end safely and raising as much money for charities as possible. Therefore we ask everyone to follow the highway code and to be courteous to other ramblers & road users.
What Will I need on the day?
We advise all riders to arrive on the day with the following:
- A bike that has been checked and is serviceable to cover the distance
- A Helmet – No Helmet no ride
- X2 water bottles
- Suitable clothing, that can cope with all that a British spring day can throw at you!
- Suncream, hopefully, you need it!
- Money or credit card
- Phone for emergencies
- We ask that people not to wear earphones, it’s a social ride and it’s also dangerous to other cyclists and road users
- You’ll be burning a lot of calories on the day, there are food stops along the way but it's worth packing energy gels or bars
- Emergency phone number (we’ll provide this in advance of the day)
We advise all Hikers to arrive on the day with the following:
- Correct Footwear - The walk covers all terrains and you need to make sure you have sturdy footwear that can sop with the Derbyshire Countryside
- Water Bottle - we have stops on the route but its super important you keep hydrated
- Suncream, hopefully, you need it!
- Money or credit card
- Phone for emergencies
Before you start you must sign in with one of the volunteers, there will be checkpoints along the route so it's important we know who has started the event so we can track everyone to the finish. Like the Marines, no one gets left behind.
Will there be a Bag Drop to take my belongings to Skegness?
If you are staying overnight at Skegness and need to get your bag there, let us take care of it. We will have a designated drop-off point at the start, Your bag will then be transported to the finish point in Skegness ready for your arrival.
