Amble to Ashbourne

Amble to Ashbourne - now with two distances: 20 miles or 13 miles - 16th May 2026

We’re delighted to introduce a new 13-mile walk option alongside the original 20-mile Amble to Ashbourne route. This makes the event accessible to a wider audience, whether you want to take on the full challenge or enjoy a shorter but still rewarding walk.

You can now choose the distance that suits you best:

🥾 20-mile walk – the classic full route from Derby to Ashbourne

🚶 13-mile walk – a new option allowing walkers to finish earlier and return to Derby

Walk at your own pace, be part of a fantastic day, and help raise funds for our 2 amazing children’s charities.

Discover the Historic Route

The Amble to Ashbourne follows the historic route taken by Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army during the Jacobite Rising of 1745. The walk winds through beautiful Derbyshire countryside and charming villages along the way.

Both distances start together from Derby Arena Velodrome and share the same scenery, support, refreshment stops and community spirit. Whether you choose 20 miles or 13 miles, the event is suitable for walkers of all abilities.
